Indian cities hardly worth living in

Indian cities have been rated real low in a survey of the world's best cities to live in. The finding is based on overall quality of life and personal safety.
Western European cities, led by Geneva, Zurich and Venice at the top, dominate the list of 215 cities released by the London-based Mercer a human resource consulting group.
Overall, 25 of the 50 cities described as the world's best to live in are European. But some of Europe's most famous cities are at the bottom of the list, with Athens, Rome and London (29th) scoring poorly due to high levels of petty crime. Luxembourg ranks as the world's top city for personal safety and security, according to the survey.
Mumbai, ranked 150th, is the top Indian metropolis in terms of quality of life followed by Bangalore and New Delhi (both 153). On the personal safety and security index, Bangalore and Chennai (both ranking 112) offer the best record followed by New Delhi (126) and Mumbai (139).
"The top-ranking cities for personal safety and security are in politically stable countries with good international relations and sustainable economic growth," said Slagin Parakatil, Senior Researcher at Mercer. " Most of the low-scoring cities are in countries with civil unrest, little law enforcement, and high levels of crime." The world's least secure city is Baghdad, followed by Abidjan (Ivory Coast) and Lagos (Nigeria).
The ranking has been calculated using 39 criteria, including economic, environmental, medical and health considerations, education, recreation, housing and political stability.
