we have had some press statements by the ex-Tourism Minister and the South Goa MP. And some people even swear by the Rajya Sabha (?) MP. But their information base seems woefully lacking and their public posturing does not inspire any confidence. Due to this vacuum the Navy gets a virtually free hand at Dabolim and the Goan economy and society suffer.)
There is a crucial difference between CIAL and Dabolim. CIAL is a greenfield airport in which the State Government and private parties hold equity shares. It was constructed to avoid frictions with the Navy in Kochi. The CM was referring to the airport in which it holds a controlling stake, and not to the naval airport.
