I have not been reading all the emails on Goanet recently but did see Fred's
email on Goan expats
donating footballs to Goa. I suppose this is a serious idea so I will try and
give a serious
response:

1. I did not know a lack of footballs was a priority in Goa.
2. How far up the priority scale is it?
3. Goan expats typically visit beaches, family, friends during their visit and
rarely get involved
in Goa's development or investment. Now they are being asked to donate
footballs, the equivalent
of one rupee in the church collection box on Sunday? Is that really a
contribution? Or a farce?
4. Many Goan expats in the UK, Toronto, USA, Aust., etc. are sitting on
$250,000 to half a million
US dollars of net equity in their homes with the surge in housing prices over
the last decade. We
are asking this group of song-and-dance Goans to donate a football?

If we are serious about Goa and Goans and investment, sustainable development
and serious actions
we need to provide the equivalent of football fields, not footballs.

Regards,
George
