Permit me to add my own views to what Bosco and Herman have already said. Cecil, kindly translate ;-)

On a more serious note, the question that comes up simply
is: what role should Goanet be playing?

        * To score points over each other, and prove one another wrong?

        * To share information, and build links among Goa and its diaspora

The choice belongs to every subscriber of Goanet -- vocal or silent. The I-will-get-the-last-word syndrome comes at its own price. Your silence means that you get a chance to curse the darkness ... but no one ever gets to know what you would prefer. You too don't get the challege to post something that makes Goanet a better place.

Rude words perturb us. So should we be using them against someone else?

When two fools fight on the Net, hundreds or thousands are laughing (or getting bored to death). Or so they say.

A small suggestion: make your point and leave it. We're never ever going to convince any other mature adult, who has strong views of their own, into changing their fundamental premises and perspectives.

As Goanet navigates its tenth anniversary year, the biggest challenge is whether we all we can all add value to voluntary networks such as this. Please *don't* send me that note saying a thank you for the news or for some particular posting. Show that you mean it: send out a useful posting back in return. That's the only way all of us can grow. And not decay.
