HIS EXPERIENCE WITH THE LATE POPE.
Shri Agarwal was the first Secretary of Embassy of India in Kuwait, a middle aged man, a nice and charismatic personality. He was the Guest of Honour when Konkani Heritage Kuwait honoured renowned Konkani Stage artiste Prince Jacob at the local Village Inn a few years back. During the course of conversation with me and Fr. Gabriel Dias, while making a mention of the late Pope John Paul II, he had to say the following from his personal encounter with the late Pope:
Said Shri Agarwal, I was posted in Italy and during one visit to the Pope along with Indian Ambassador I had an opportunity to meet the Pope at the Vatican. One side seated me and the other side our Ambassador and in the center Pope. While we were busy talking, the Pope slowly and gently held my hand and placed a small packet containing a precious gift into my hand and held my hand tightly for few seconds. I could not believe what it was but I felt such an electrifying effect in whole of my body that at that particular moment I felt I am in Heaven and all my bodily pains and sicknesses totally eradicated from my body. While I was totally silence for few seconds I felt I am not a pure Hindu but a pure Christian enjoying Heavenly bliss and I even thought at that particular moment to embrace Christianity. During my diplomatic career and during my entire lifetime I never had such a blissful experience and I will always remember it and also share this experience with others, people of different faiths. From this experience, I realized why Popes are normally considered as holy persons and rightly Pope John Paul II is the Holy Pope.
