To put my money where my mouth is, I spent a few minutes converting Miguel Braganza's email into a simple webpage. It contains all the details of the Konkan Fruit Fest, an ambitious event taking together a number of institutions across three states.
Check this out at http://konkanfruit.swiki.net/
What's best of all is that this fruit fest initiative is spearheaded by the Botanical Society of Goa, a voluntary organisation based in this state that has been revitalised into quite an active force.
So what am I, someone who can only plant ideas and not seeds, doing as a life-member of the BSG? I was quite impressed by the work that this organisation is doing, so much so that I decided to go ahead and join it. At the price of Rs 750 (think the life membership fees are hiked a little by now), it's surely worth signing-up. Even if you're only remotely connected with the subject.
Wish other Goanetters would look at the possibilty of joining this network. Who said things don't happen in Goa? [But are we around to support them when they do?]
Okay, thank you for allowing me to meander across such unconnected subjects, without shouting me down ;-) FN
