More importantly!
Two wheeler riders must obey 'The Rules of the Road' as also four wheelers of course. It is important that drivers do not take any 'RISK' relating to overtaking;
Should never overtake from the right side of the front vehicle; should not even think of overtaking at a 'BEND in the Road; or when nearing the 'Crest of a Hill' etc.
Driving after even a small 'alcoholic drink' must be avoided at all costs. You Drink and Drive, You are a Bloody Idiot! Worse even after a drug session or just a try!
There should be no haste, in arriving at a destination; remember it's better to arrive LATE then NEVER! Slow down at intersections however small it may be! and do not change lanes or overtake in an intersection
Do Defensive Driving all the time; Never take the other vehicles' actions for granted! They may be inclined to do wrong and you are in trouble, or even death; Better to avoid the consequences of rash driving, with defensive driving.
Always wear a helmet even for a 50 metre ride! Never take more then one passenger.
Discipline of self and discipline on the road will save lives and injuries. Helmets do save you from serious injury and death, in case of an unavoidable accident. BUT the Most IMPORTANT THING Is to Follow the Rules of The ROAD all the time and be DISCIPLINED!
If you have to Drive, Do Not Drink! Abstinence will not kill you, But the Drink will surely kill you.
Goa Desk: Please work for improved 'Driver Training and Testing'; and Improved "Driving Teacher Training'; and organise continually a campaign for drivers to follow the rules of the road and no drinking. These sort of programmes will go a long way in reducing the carnage on the roads. Discipline all the Time! There should be at least five tests for GOA two wheeler drivers! The two wheelers outside pubs and the like should be locked up and given away only after confirmation that the driver is sober.

Learning from Tragedy ----------------------------- Recently, when wearing of helmets by two-wheeler riders was declared to be mandatory, many of us raised a hue and cry, citing so many reasons for not wearing a helmet. In today's fast-paced world, youngsters hardly spare a moment to think about life and their loved ones. It is only incidents like these which strike too close at home, that make us youngsters sit up and take stock of our lives.
I sincerely appeal to all the two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, not by force, but by choice. Many of us may argue that there is no guarantee that wearing a helmet will save one's life. But, at least, we will die knowing that we valued this precious gift called life.
