GL responds to Cornel:
Just returned to read your post. Once again you seen to have a penchant for
mis-stating all and sundry. The issue of Fr. D'Souza was not his existence or
his role in the Indian Constituent Assembly. But it was his 'supposed quote' of
caste practices in the Catholic Church; and especially in the Goa context which
by the way is the context of this thread. (Just in case you have missed it).

Baba ani Putta, you can internationalize all you want. It looks like it is
pretty easy to get any paper presented on some third-rate 'international forum'
on some sea-side resort. But you will not be the first or the last Goan who
confuses the issues. Others are doing the same thing in other parts of the
world.

Some are doing it in pursuit of their own agenda. The recent one I discovered
was the 'Goan expert' with a few western degrees, a former divorcee and now in
a live-in relation. The individual condemned the Goan practice of
institutional-Church marriage. I just laughed at this, especially in light of
the fact that in this great country of US of A, the Gays and Lesbians are
fighting to institutionalize their unions.

Yes Cornel, Mario and others, Goans like everyone else are entitled to their
own opinions. But they are not entitled to their own facts. Some of these may
be based on fictional novels on Goa written by third parties, that are now
given a fake stamp of legitimacy.

As some of you may well know, DISTORTING the facts on purpose is a polite way
of stating it is a LIE. And when this is done in an academic context, it is
called a scientific FRAUD.

I'm glad you've elected to move your discussion on Goa's caste discriminations
to another, perhaps less educated forum. So far in spite of my repeated
requests, there has been a lot of opinions based on anecdotal cases with very
little factual documented data of current practices. Or as my beloved late
grand-aunt, who was not bashful, would say, "There is a lot of F--T and no
S--T" :=)). And the proverb sounds a lot better in amchi bhas.

 Regards
