THANKSGIVING MASS IN KUWAIT
The elevation of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger to the Papacy thru election was hailed all around the world. To mark this joyful occasion, a Thanksgiving Holy Mass was celebrated in Kuwait at Holy Family Cathedral, Kuwait City, it was a concelebrated Mass, the main celebrant being Archbishop Andreas � the Charge d�Affaires at the Vatican Embassy in Kuwait; the other celebrants were Monsg. Arnold the Secretary of Archbishop Andreas and the Bishop of Kuwait Monsg. Mechallef. Besides, 10 priests from Kuwait assisted in the celebration of the Thanksgiving Mass including the Deacon. The Mass was attended by the packed Church having no room even to stand properly. The front seats elaborately were occupied by the top dignitaries from different segments including top diplomats from different Embassies in Kuwait. It was very nice to witness and to parciticipate in such an occasion where Archbishop Andreas in his homily showed his happiness over the election of Cardinal Ratzinger to the Papacy and prayed to God to bless the new Pope to guide His followers in a right direction. Rarely I saw Andreas before in such a jovial mood, his facial appearance indicated his happiness and his chosen words during his preaching was the testimony of his joy. A great preacher with great eloquence, his wisdomatic words and intelligent preaching always attracted me for His Mass at 8.00 A.M. on Fridays. His majestic appearance gives an extra colour to his dignified position not only in the Church circle but also in the diplomatic circle. We in Kuwait are very fortunate to have amidst us such a fatherly figure to look after the interest of Catholics.
May God shower the new Pope with abundant blessings to take care of the Catholics and others too and also may Heavenly God bless Archbishop Andreas to fulfill his obligations entrusted upon him.
After the Mass, I could easily see the happiness all around the faces of the faithfuls during their interaction in the Church Compound. It was really a momentous occasion for the Catholics in Kuwait from different regions and nationalities.
