<Whilst I agree with you - Philip , I believe that there should be nothing that should stop us from doing what we believe should be done. I do that all the time , I rather do it myself than COMPLAIN ...as complains by themselves do not solve problems.
It's our attitude .. that makes all the difference , we often wait for others to do what we would like to see done. I would rather say ... What can I DO ? - I would refrain from asking others .. as to WHAT they can do ....We seem to have too many so called * experts * in this world - who would rather argue their case - th(e)n(?) get involved in making things HAPPEN. I believe we have a great opportunity to work for the benefit of GOA , we have a a good Goan network - of egroups . We should motivate the people in our community , not discourage them in what they do - even though ...what they do ...may look meaningless to many of us. Lets remind ourselves that every one has a story to tell ....even an idiot ... listen to his story - it may interest you . We should not quit - because some one has verbally abused us , we need to be thick skined , we should never .. QUIT as quitters NEVER Win and WINNERS never Quit ! It is why , we need to come TOGETHER before we can address the every day problems we have in Goa and in our communities. We need to work in PARTNERSHIP - avoiding duplication of efforts.> [Rene Barretto, May 3] ---- 1. Let us be clear that the discussion we need to have on goanet is about COMPLEX problems, not fixing-a-fuse or putting a bandaid type ones. These complex problems deal with the mundane matters I mentioned but the Goa-wide scale makes them hard to "DO SOMETHING" about unless we all are on the same wavelength as you have advised. Discussion (as opposed to mere "complaining") is simply because "two or more heads are better than one"! 2. I agee that there is a need to motivate the GOANET "community" in particular. I am not referring at the moment to our "local" communities in Goa. 3. I dont know what is meant by "avoiding duplication". Converging on an agreed approach to a complex problem might well involve reinforcing the views of others! Would this be considered duplication?
