Science is groping. It is a process. It tries to substantiate and verify facts. But, as you agree, the task is not yet over. Let us help one another in the process. Let us not wait for centuries to have an answer from Science. As you stated, "Science has not made a value judgement on this issue. It is just stating the observation that it exists and is far more widespread in various life forms than imagined". The fact that homosexuality is present in other animals does not lead us to conclude that it is not wrong in human beings. Let us try to come to a value judgment...
The verse to which you are alluding, namely Lv 20:13, is not Christian teaching. It has been far superseded by Gospel values. The fact that there are "gay families" in some countries is not an argument against Gn 1:26f. Do not forget the definition of conjugal family, namely that parents give birth and educate their children for the sake of tomorrow's society... Ivo da C.Souza --------Original Message ------- Fr. Ivo, Thank you for taking the time to respond. If you feel that science is based on unverifiable opinion and unsubstantiated facts, I dont belive this discussion will go very far. Science is obviously not perfect, which is why it promotes an environment for healthy debate and self correction.
