Single malt whisky: 'Glenfiddich' is the best that I know of. It has a nice mellow taste and soothes my palate, best! Then there is Glenlivet, of course and may be a host of other names.

A bottle of Glenfiddich should cost anywhere between the cost of Johny Black and Chivas Regal; it beats me, when u say it was auctioned for thousands of pounds for a charity! Was this a whole cask and vintage stuff that you are refering to?
Whatever the price, there is no better whisky for me, when and wherever it is available! I even prefer 'Glenfiddich' to Chivas Regal; thats a matter of taste, of course!

RESPONSE: It is not good news for all whisky drinkers; only the
connoisseurs or drinkers of single malt whisky. The best, I have found
and one which some while ago, was sold at auction for charity for many
thousands of pounds, is Glenfiddich - pure smooth nectar drunk neat or
on the rocks.
