Some interesting figures on book publishing in India:
There are about 16,000 publishers in the country
producing an estimated 70,000 titles every year. The
annual turnover of the industry is estimated at Rs
700 crore (Rs 7000 million). A good 40% of the titles
are in English, making India the largest producer of
books in the English language after the UK and the US.
Book exports grew from Rs 33 crore in 1991 to Rs 360
