Goanetters,
I am puzzled by Alfred's contention below, (with reference to Catholic belief) to Mario that, "their levelheaded [referring to Santosh and George] comments ...considerably help us, believers, from going astray towards the ludicrous." My puzzlement stems from the earlier powerful arguments people like Mario, George, Jose and I presented on Goanet, over a sustained period, that caste belief is not compatible with Catholicism. I think that Santosh also came out against caste but I have not got the time to check this out for now. Alfred remained ever so silent on this issue and indeed said so himself, except for one statement from him which said that we were like buffaloes fighting this issue. His sentiment in its context was entirely derogaratory to those identified above. Perhaps Alfred can now clarify, in the light of his earlier statement which I have identified above, where he stands on caste belief vis a vis his contention that he is indeed a Catholic believer.

Clearly, anyone interested in this issue can locate Alfred's exact words, and so can he, in the archives.

No hard feelings Alfred, just seeking clarification, ever so humbly.

My dear Mario,

Neither do I vouchsafe my opinions humble.

I think Santosh and George are doing us, Catholics, indeed,
very proud.

By their levelheaded comments they considerably help
us, believers, from going astray towards the ludicrous.

I am sure, even the good Jesus, would have avoided the
path that led his evangelists and followers towards scorn.

Alfred de Tavares,

All the physician-posters I can think of are at least
as obnoxious as I am, which is saying a lot, but I try
to be specific, and even my barbed references are
narrowly targeted and precisely crafted, in my never
humble opinion of course. The victims, er, debating
opponents, I'm sure, will disagree.
