Make public the forensic report on forgery: Luizinho NT Staff Reporter Panaji May 29: Mr Luizinho Faleiro, the former president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, has demanded that the police department should make the report received by it from National Forensic Laboratory, Hyderabad, public with regard to forgery of the membership document that was used to get Mr Filipe Neri Rodrigues disqualified as legislator. Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Faleiro said that the police have been lethargic in investigating the forgery case right from beginning and they ought to tell the public any report received by them as an attempt has been made to derail democracy by hatching criminal conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party, by getting a legislator disqualified using forged documents. He also said that it has been established beyond doubt that the signature on the membership form was not that of Mr Rodrigues and that it has been forged. He further said that he would vouch for the authenticity about the information of police having received the report which speaks of the forgery. He went on to add that he was ready to resign from the House if BJP leader, Mr Manohar Parrikar could prove that the report was not true or else challenged Mr Parrikar to quit his seat. He further said that following the forgery having been proved in the report received last week by the police, it was expected by the people that the BJP leaders should have resigned their seats in view of public accountability and morality, but they are making wild accusations against others. Reaffirming authenticity of his information about the receipt of report, Mr Faleiro, also a former chief minister said it appears that the police may have sought information to nail down the real culprits involved in the forgery case. He said that the fraud was committed by the BJP leaders to derail democratic process and it was a serious crime which attracted punishment extending up to life-term. He further said that forgery was intentional criminal conspiracy committed by the BJP leadership and speaker's office in order to derail democracy and hoodwink the law of the land in order to cling to power. He also said that this was a case of serious dimension in which irreparable harm was done to not only Mr Rodrigues but democracy also. The former GPCC chief also said that the then speaker should have used abundant precaution by getting the signature verified in view of vehement denials by Mr Rodrigues that the signature on the BJP membership form was not his. He further said that the BJP could stoop to any low to enjoy power and wondered how Goans would believe in a party that has gone to play a fraud on the democracy, Constitution and the law of land. Mr Faleiro said that BJP should withdraw it manifesto in which they have promised to provide a stable government as they can never dream of coming to power and forming a government as their numbers have been depleting with the passage of time, and their strength in the House has now been reduced to 14. Earlier, Mr Ravi Naik, the GPCC president said that Congress has received reports that a frustrated BJP was trying to create disturbances in constituencies which were going to polls to defame Congress and win sympathy for itself and that he has urged his party men not to retaliate to the provocations of the BJP workers and leaders. Saying that the Congress will fight the BJP peacefully, he went on to add that BJP has been filing complaints without any basis before the Election Commission. He further said that feedback from all the five constituencies indicated that Congress would win all of them comfortably. Ms Mabel Rebello, the All India Congress Committee secretary now overseeing elections in the state, said that Goa has been selected by the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre for turning it into a model state, under which lot of central funds would flow to the state for development of all round infrastructure and creation of job opportunities. She further said that it was evident from the response that the party has been getting that it would bag all the five constituencies where by-elections are being held on June 2. She said only Congress can provide stable government. Earlier all the Congress leaders congratulated Ms Sonia Gandhi on her re-election as the president of AICC. Comment: As most will have known this already, the BJP will do anything to propagate their agenda, which is to further their Hindutva programme. The Goa Police should now institute proceedings against the perpetrators of this crime. Will they though? The people of Goa should take note, that failure on the part of the Police to prosecute this to the full will imply that the BJP has installed their own people in the Police Force. The Governor now has to ensure, that law and order will prevail and the wrong doers will be meted out justice by facing the full wrath of the Law. -- Cheers, Gabe Menezes. London, England
