<I am also aware that at the Goan Gymkhana,Nairobi, non-Brahmin males who were admitted after independence, were refused dances by Brahmin girls; whilst male brahmins never danced with female non-brahmins even though in some cases, they were classmates their entire school life.>

Considering that Tonybab is talking about Africa, I wonder if ANY Africans were allowed to attend these dances. And IF they were , IF any of the alleged non-Brahmin girls were 'allowed' to dance with the African guys.

PS: When we speak bad about the Caste System, we sometimes forget to remember the COLOUR origins.

"Non-Brahmins" often speak ill of the prejudice of the "Brahmins" against "non-Brahmins". Was there NO prejudice displayed by the "Non-Brahmins" to individuals of other races and colours?
