Hi Gabe, Got a firewall, got an antivirus that is updated every week (Australia's own VET which has now been bought by CA) as well as eTrust PestPatrol.
My issues probably occurred before I had the firewall in place, a few years ago, in fact. However, with so many memberships (ORACLE, Microsoft, DevX et al) that one subscribes to, when / after installing legitimate software, and adresses given when purchasing from Amazon and software retailers, as well as the fora, I wonder if the email addresses are on-sold to other companies, which are then on-sold in turn to other companies, etc. which gives rise to all the spam (Nigerian-style) plus the hijacking (i.e. impersonation). Funny enough, I have yet to receive any unsolicited email as yet at my personal business address which I have held since 2002 - this is because just half a dozen people know it, and it hasn't been supplied to any software company or used for any purchases. Cheers, Gabriel. --- Gabe Menezes <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On 07/06/05, Gabe Menezes <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > > RESPONSE: There are many programmes which are > initiated by hackers ............................. > > For those that want a free virus P.C. but do not > want to pay for the > > likes of Norton, try AVG antivirus which can be > downloaded free with > > updates to boot.
