- a website owned by Ulysses Menezes, Associate: Gaspar Almeida [EMAIL PROTECTED] SIDELIGHTS *The former chief minister, Mr Manohar Parrikar and his one-time trusted lieutenant, Mr Digambar Kamat, sitting side by side in the second row for invitees and chatting with each other was perhaps the scene that attracted maximum photographers and cameramen to capture the unique sight, besides the attention of those who attended the ceremony. *The shamiana erected for the swearing-in ceremony was packed to its capacity, with around 200 to 300 people standing outside it. *Around 10 buses carrying Mr Rane supporters from his constituency, Poryem, arrived at the Raj Bhavan shouting slogans in support of their leader. *Mr Pratapsing Rane, who arrived 10 minutes late for the swearing-in ceremony was attired in a black Jodhpuri suit, same as his cabinet colleague, Dr Wilfred de Sousa. The third minister to be sworn-in, Mr Ramakrishna Dhavlikar however chose to wear a kurta-payjama. *Mr Rane took the oath of office and oath of secrecy in English, Dr de Sousa opted for Konkani, while Mr Dhavlikar went for Marathi, thus maintaining a linguistic balance in the swearing-in ceremony. *Just before the swearing-in ceremony, the chief secretary, Ms Kiran Dhingra read out the proclamation from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, revoking the near three- month Presidential rule in the state and setting Goa assembly free from its suspended animation state. *The Raj Bhavan premises witnessed a drizzle as the swearing-in ceremony progressed, with the bright sunlight continuing over the venue. *The former ministers in the previous Congress governments, Dr Wilfred Mesquita, Mr Domnick Fernandes, Mr Isidore Fernandes, and Mr Jose Philip D�Sousa were also present at the swearing-in ceremony. *Those conspicuous by their absence were the leaders of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party - a party which is a faction of the Congress-led United Legislature Party - including the MGP president, Mr Pandurang Raut.
