I'm writing in from Calcutta and need some help for a friend of mine called
Colin Fernandes. H'e wants to do a family tree and needs to get information on Moira, his
ancestral village, where his late father got his baptism certificate. He is
planning to go there sometime at the end of the month and meet the parish
priest and some locals who may remember his family.
Could anybody help me with the address details of the church and where these
kind of records can be obtained in Moira.

Dear Jerome,

Floriano Lobo has provided the required information about the address of the Moira church. There are many other aspects to Moira and Moidekars that have been celebrated in folklore through the centuries. But no longer is Moira considered unique.

Benaulim, which had a similar reputation, has proved itself by electing Mickey Pacheco to the Assembly again.

And Saligao is not far behind. They have kept electing Dr. Willy to the Assembly so many times. His recent outbursts and actions are a shame to the village and to all right-thinking Goans. It is about time that Saligaonkars should no longer be referred to as 'kolle' but should be put on par with Benaulim and Moira for their strange behavior.

Cheers!

Cecil
