<I'll be surprised if this works! Bikes on the other hand are allowed via KCRC, although not all stations have the facility. I took my bike to Cochin a few months ago from Madgaon station (the Old Goa halt was too short to do the load) and the cost was Rs 1,200/-. Better than riding the entire 800+km journey!Cheers, Allwyn [June 15]
When you think about it, the proposition about RO-RO for passenger cars does seem an uphill battle. Anyway, our hidebound organisations are just not equipped to deal constructively with customer suggestions like this. But they do seem to take notice when someone eats their lunch! Competition may be the key. WHAT IF - Goa was well served by low cost airlines which shuttled between Dabolim and Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi , Trivandrum etc. Then one could envisage a car rental service at some of these places where you could get a vehicle for temporary use. This system would obviate RO-RO by the railways. Just a bright idea. [The BIG problem of course is that Dabolim is not going to be free of Navy restrictions any time soon!]
