'Chic Chocolate' was essentially a Dance Band, and a top band , in those times, and competing with the Anglo Indian Band called Ken Mac; These two were very popular with western music lovers and as dance bands.

Antonio Xavier Vaz was the leader of the band which he let be known as 'Chic Chocolate' thus giving it a Business name. Antonio made himself very popular with the film industry and got a lot of Goan men and boys playing for the film industry, besides himself and successfully making a 'buck'. I used to enjoy dancing to his music!

His name was Antonio Xavier Vaz. 'Chic Chocolate' was the music
director of 'Naadaan' (1951). I am sorry to put a brake on your burst
of enthusiasm ('a rare feat' and all that) but C Ramchandra was named
"music supervisor" (and not an assistant) for the film.>
