Following a request from an NRI that SBI should introduce online banking facilities for NRI's in the Gulf we at South Goa Public Interest Action Group (SGPIAG) a registered NGO based in Margao,Salcete, South Goa District ,with jurisdiction, at present, over the entire South Goa Parliamentary Constituency took up the matter with the State Bank of India official Mr P S KARANTH AGM MARGAO.
We have also highlighted some of the issues of concern raised by NRIs with us, as regards a) lack of proper interaction by Bank officials with the NRIs, b) issues of fly-by-night operators that have ruined the lives of many NRIs and c) the need to have a one to one interaction with the NRIs to discuss thread bare the issues not using banking jargon but in a more simplistic manner so as to be able to guide the NRI whether semi-literate or otherwise to understand the nitty gritty of investment opportunities in India or Goa. The first such visit is as per the details furnished by the AGM SBI Margao (email hereinbelow is self explanatory) In our humble opinion we would like to suggest that NRIs should discuss informally the issues affecting them during such visits -- putting their points down in writing and demand from these visiting officials written assurances etc and above all ensure an action taken report until the issue is addressed to its logical conclusion.
