In this e-zine: Talk about finalising the Pernem-Canacona
four-lane highway ...

o Union minister for surface transport T R Baalu to visit Goa in a week, to
decide on the alignment for the proposednew four-lane highway from Pernem to
Canacona. (H)>

This report cites the Chief Minister, Pratapsing Rane. It concludes
sensationally in my opinion thus:

"To another question on whether the state government would want the navy
base to be shifted from Dabolim, Rane answered in the negative."

Thus one is led to believe that the State Government would not lift a little
finger to normalise conditions at Dabolim airport at the earliest. This
implies a total blindspot on the part of the state leadership to Goa's
flagship problem. Alternatively, HERALD may have been remiss in not giving
the CM's full views on this sensitive subject instead of just leaving things
hanging with a bald statement in the middle of the page.
