Incidentally, HTML was created for web-pages... not email. Why overload
the system with fancy fonts? If you think this is just a personal view,

Nobody here is arguing that they want to send in formatted text. Or text
with more than one font or colour or underlines or whatever. All I am
saying is that what sometimes appears to pure ASCII text when sent from one
E-mailing software lands up with embedded codes at your end. An applet (?
tiny single-function software program) at your end which just stripped off
all formatting would solve the problem. Your shrewd attempt, at making it
appear that I am asking for formatted text to be allowed, has been noted.
As predicted you came up with technical mumbo jumbo, and misdirection, to
hide the main point of the discussion.

Fred:
Hence, we request all Goanetters to follow certain protocols, that would
make life easier for all of us. Please be assured that we keep
continually looking at various solutions, software upgrades, etc within
the constraints we work.
Cecil:
'within the constraints of work' seems to be the end-all argument for all
deficiencies. This 'plain text' issue has been bugging subscribers for
years now. How come it takes that long to find a simple solution that
unformats all text? I think finding a solution has to be given priority so
as to cause less headache for posters, Bosco and the Admin Team. Just see
how much bandwidth has been wasted already on this issue.

Fred:
Goanet needs volunteer-time and money (go to www.goanet.org and click on
Paypal... so far only a handful have come forward, and we're grateful to
them!) to keep its work going. Rather than criticism and suspicion,
almost at every single turn of the road.
Cecil:
Indeed yes. I too suggest that subscribers send in some donations to GoaNet
so the Admin Team can find and buy some software that automates the process
of unformatting formatted text. I have just donated $10 from my Pay Pal
account. I know it isn't much but that's all I can spare right now.
And Fred please don't mix criticism with suspicion. You seem to be ever
ready to accept compliments but treat every criticism as an attack on your
principles. I am merely trying to point out to you a necessary improvement
(regarding plain text) in the way GoaNet operates. I have been telling you
(and Bosco) the same thing for many months now. One man's vision cannot
always be faultless.
Cheers!
Cecil
