Here's a suggestion to cut down on some of the posts both from Mario and
in response to Mario's posts. In order to do this we must identify the
following types of posts:
1. Comments from Mario.
2. Comments about Mario.
3. Comments about the content of Mario's posts.
4. Debates concerning the content about Mario's posts.
In each case we assign one person to receive, compile and post comments
to [email protected] *once a day*.
1. In the first case Mario initiates. We'll ask Mario to maintain a
sensible limit on the number of postings initiated by him each day, or
even have him put several of them in a single daily mail.
Total daily posts = 0 or more.
2. This second category contains rants about Mario from people who don't
respond to Mario's arguments but, instead, choose to insult him. Jose
Colaco would make a perfect candidate to receive/compile/post such
comments from other Goanetters and himself. Mario can safely ignore this
daily compilation. This daily digest of insults will reduce the amount
of Goanet postings very significantly.
Total daily posts=1 (or less, if we're being civil)
3. A third category might contain brief responses to the content of
Mario's posts from persons who generally want to make a point without
engaging in debate. George Pinto represents this small-ish category of
posters and will probably do a fine job at compiling a daily digest of
such posts for all of us. Mario can respond to all the issues raised by
writing a single response.
Total posts/day=2 or less.
4. This last category, alas, represents a tiny minority of Goanet
posters (and an even tinier percent of Goanet readers). This group of
posters are open-minded and tackle Mario's arguments, not Mario the
person. They are willing to be informed and are gracious in the way they
inform. Cornel DaCosta will make a good candidate to filter, organise
and forward another daily digest of debate. If he deems content
inappropriate, he can pass it along to George or Jose as each case
merits. Again, one daily posting will generate one response from Mario.
