Could this be the result of the males being too long
away from their wives, in the Gulf or on board ships?

Are there any stats on the ratio of married men being
abroad / away from their wives for an appreciably long
period of time in Goa as compared to other states?

Dear Gabriel,

I am not aware of any statistics but I would venture to say that the married couples where the men are abroad and the married couples where the man is here in Goa procreate equally. Almost all modern couples, of both types, have an average of two children.
