I suggest that you and Vivian begin some discussions on these topics, and let the chips fall where they may.
My observation is that those most vociferous in complaining about topics on Goanet are the least vociferous in making postings themselves, subliminally demanding therefore that OTHERS be interested in the topics that interest THEM. I make posts that interest me, not to entertain someone else. On the other hand, I have no problem if readers ignore what I say if it doesn't interest them. Over the longer term, the discussions on a public forum like Goanet, in my opinion, will trend towards the weighted average of the personal interests of the POSTERS, not the passive READERS, and not necessarily what is socially beneficial. A good example is in the media, where, as the saying goes, "If it bleeds, it leads", and many socially beneficial news falls through the cracks. Has something to do with human nature.
