Eugene,
Re Bloody Foreigners, I have bought a copy and read about half of the book so far. I think the title is unfortunate but the book is centrally about the contribution that foreigners have made to the UK. It is really highly supportive of the 'foreigner' and questions the received wisdom of the indigenous Briton who tends to think in terms of "bloody foreigners" taking jobs etc. The truth is that foreigners over the past centuries have helped keep Britain afloat and contributed significantly to its sustained development and this theme lies at the heart of this book. I would strongly recommend the book as its historical research is pretty thorough. It is a bit of a heavyweight of a book and in hard cover when I bought it when it first came out. Nevertheless, it is a good read. I hope to finish reading it by the end of this summer and perhaps I may have more to say about it then. In the meantime, I hope you will get a copy so that we may be able to exchange notes. Regarding my view of Blair's illegal and unjustified war against Iraq, and as a poodle of the USA, I have said much on Goanet and will not repeat this. 80% of Britons were opposed to the start of the war. However, now we have one hell of a problem to sort out with many crazy religious extremists who are entirely indiscriminate over bombings and I doubt the various groups have a clear rationale for their actions except perhaps for one central theme i.e. their perception of the double standards of the West on many issues affecting/hurting them and especially, over Palestine/Israel. Sadly the damage has been done, and ironically, Blair comes out as a bit of a statesman in this crisis in the absence of an alternative available leader at this juncture. It may take a long time to bring back life to normality and the price is likely to be high unfortunately.

Saw a book titled Bloody Foreigners, published in
Britain in 2004 but reissued this year in paperback. I
haven't read, but hope it buy it. Did anyone on the
goanet read it?

This is the type of hysteria that white Britain
creates and then the consequences is what we see now
happening in that country.
No doubt the immigrant Muslim community, and many
others, were disturbed with Tony Blair's support to
USA in its War Against Terror, the underlying problem
seems immigrant distrust and frustration.

The social ills of racial discrimination and prejudice
takes its own toll. Sad but true.
