In the report in the Indian Express, a serious allegation is made, namely:
"Local authorities have failed to demolish these illegal constructions due
to the interference of MLAs who see the slums as vote banks."
I think these MLAs must be held criminally responsible for the deaths of
the 11 persons. I am surprised that the media is coy in not naming the
persons to be blamed. One has to wonder about the impartiality of the
media, and whether the media can be expected to be an effective watchdog on
the political wrong doings in Goa.
