(Gabriel de Figueiredo wrote: He indirectly, like
Francisco
Luis Gomes, put Goa on the world map, as one may say,
by way of promoting hypnotism as a scientific topic
rather
than as a side show at a circus.)

I have always been fascinated by magic and I was
therefore surprised when a reputed Goan magician whom
I met some time back described hypnotism as nothing
but humbug and fraud. He went on to mention to me how
a reputed hypnotist used to 'plant' his own people
amongst the audience, how these same people used to
then be transported from one city to the other and
from one show to the other and how these 'planted
people' would then enact their roles of "hypnotized
subjects" to perfection.

Is there really a Science called hypnotism or is
hypnotism a pseudo-science or bunkum? If hypnotism is
not a science, shouldn’t we then brand all hypnotists
as frauds and charlatans?
