Success in turning around a then ailing AirAsia into one of the most successful low- cost carrier in Asia 2. Pioneered and revolutionised low-cost travel in Asia 3. Inspired and paved the way for other low-cost start-ups 4. Innovation for successfully bringing low fares to the region by forming strategic joint ventures in Thailand and Indonesia. 5. A successful listing at the Malaysian Stock Exchange and being the first low-cost airline to do so. Fernandes now joins other airline luminaries such as Geoff Dixon of Qantas Airways (Executive Leadership Award) and Herb Kelleher of Southwest Airlines (Airlines Business Award) in winning similar recognition.
