Hello Goanetters Seems the present topic of these days is Garbage. If I am not mistaken few days ago Mr. Tomazin Cardoz, had written a lovely article on this subject. And had also said that he would send the blueprint of the project to the present chief minister. Seems garbage problems are existing all over, Moira, Bicholim, Panjim (under the bridge? As Dr Willy says) well, and soon they will increase and multiply, what is our present Government deciding on it? With problems brewing in the present leadership of Pratapsingh Rane, Wonder if these major problems will ever be solved. For five years the tanker problem in candolim could not been solved. Only words, and blames, and now, this garbage problem. Wonder what happens to the ministers once they occupy the top seats. Other surprising news is that the selection of freedom fighters to go to Delhi, and non, from minority community. Wonder what happened to them.
Cheers Jerry Fernandes Reference to the news on below subjects. Garbage issue flares up PANAJI: While the Corporation of the City of Panaji is struggling to find sites for scientific disposal of garbage, the task ahead seems difficult as nearly 70 per cent of the 40 to 50 tonnes of waste generated per day in the city comprises non-biodegradable matter. (GT) Willy against disposing garbage opposite Santa Monica Jetty PANJIM, Aug 5: The Minister for Environment, Dr Wilfred de Souza, has asked the Corporation of City of Panaji not to dispose off the city's garbage opposite the Santa Monica cruise jetty under the Mandovi bridge. He said even those using the Mandovi bridges can get the smell. The Deputy Chief Minister said he found it awful while travelling on the Mandovi bridge. (H) Freedom fighters for Delhi MARGAO, Aug 5: Freedom fighters, Gurunath Kelekar, Kanta Ghantwal, Shivaling Bhonsle, Rohidas Naik and Babu Mulgaonkar, have been recommended by the local freedom fighters' Association to attend "At Home" hosted by the President of India, AP Abdul Kalam every year on Aug 9 (Quit India Day). (H) Resentment against Rane increasing PANJIM, Aug 5: As the Congress-led coalition government completes two months tomorrow, discontentment seems to be growing within the Congress against the Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane for his style of functioning.
