Mr. Shenoy, The Kolis of Mumbai have a saying "Konkanath Der Daha Mylaver Bhasha Budulthe" - how's that for an attempt to introduce the Roman script in Marathi ? - why should only Konkani have the unfair global economic advantage of having a Roman script ? (i.e. Konkani changes every 10 miles). This is a self-evident truth. If we Konkani-speaking people are not tolerant of Konkani in the Gujarati, Devnagiri, Roman and Kannada scripts to fluorish side-by-side and make no attempts to standardize the script in a few prominent ones like Gujarati, Devnagiri, Roman and Kannada, then Konkani will be balkanized into hundreds of spoken dialects and will eventually cease to fluorish.
I agree with your motto with a slight modification "Accept all dialects of Konkani and a few prominent scripts (such as Gujarati, Devnagiri, Roman, and Kannada) as our own" - We need to establish scholarly programs in universities in India and abroad to promote this motto and implemnt its message. Please note we also need to include Muslims along with Hindus and Christians in this Konkani-speaking porza. There are a sizeable number of them on the coast - esp in Gujarat, Alibag, Ratnigiri, etc. - so this is not a us vs them, Hindus vs Catholics debate any more ! Since you appear to be from the southern front of Konkani, how about arranging to lead the charge in threatening to overun Goa and Southern Maharasthtra with the Tulu-Nadu movement and imposition of Tulu-tainted Konkani in the Kannada script on all Goans - if they dont settle their squabbles and silence their babbles, awaz, noise that has created so much dissent and division among Goans and the Konkani-speaking porza - with no possible acceptable resolution over all these years ? Goa has always been vulnerable to invasions and overruns by outsiders when the populace was divided - whether by the Moslems or the Portuguese ! Let me know your thoughts.
