KONKANI DAY Marked in Kuwait.
To mark the Konkani Day, on Saturday 20th of this month, Kuwait Konknni
Kendr held its meeting
in Kuwait city. During the course of the meeting, the members of KKK
discussed many things regarding Konkani and passed the following
resolutions:
1. Kuwait Goans whom we call Kuwaitkars have done yeomen services for the
cause of Konkani and contributed financially more for the cause of Konkani,
regret the attitude of the authorities concerned in Goa to give
step-motherly treatment to Romi Konkani.
2. Kuwait Konknni Kendr regret the attitude of the so called brothers in
Konkani known as Nagrivadis who totally fooled, cheated and betrayed Romi
Konkani just to grab every opportunity available in Konkani field
officially.
3. Kuwait Konknni Kendr label the Nagrivadis in Goa as traitors who by using
Romivadis
to gain recognition for Konkani totally side stepped Romi Konkani which is
used in bigger number in Goa than Nagri Konknni.
4. Kuwait Konkkni Kendr demand from the Government of Goa equal official
status for Romi Konkani and in this direction ask all the Congress MLAs and
MP to move immediately without any delay.
5. Kuwait Konknni Kendr request all the voters who voted Congress MLAs and
MP to put pressure on their members in Goa Legislative Assembly and in Delhi
Parliament to join together to raise Roman script Konkani on par with Nagri
script Konkani.
6. Kuwait Konknni Kendr decided to back Dalgado Academy and Stephens Konknni
Kendr Porvorim in their move to fight for the cause of Roman script Konkani.
As a matter of interest KKK has already assured a donation of Rs. 25,000/-
to Dalgado Academy for the promotion of Romi Konkani.
7. Kuwait Konknni Kendr also resolved to hold a bigger meeting in Kuwait in
this direction shortly to inform the Goan Konkani lovers how Nagrivadis like
Mauzos, Naiks, Kelekars, Shivdases and other Judases have betrayed and are
trying to destroy Romi Konkani from Goa and instead bring in Marathi in Goa
thru back door in the name of Nagri Konkani. The Nagri Konknni now used in
Goa is nothing but semi Marathi and those who embraced this script are none
but pro Marathi.
Further, Kuwait Konknni Kendr has decided to hold its regular show Songit
Sanz in October next year under the direction of our colleague in KKK Mr.
Rosary Ferns. It will be held tentatively on 27th of October 2006. Venue
will be notified later. For this mega Konkani cultural show, prominent
Konknnivadi and well known artistes will be invited, males and females, from
GOA. The proceeds of this show will be utilized to further support the
movement of Romi Konkani.
