Thank you Fred for the illuminating account of what is entirely new to me-- the TSKK proposed new form of writing Roman script Konkani. I know relatively little about the competing forms of Konkani but my first reaction is that the modified script may not be a bad idea at all. It seems to do away with the many divisive and competing forms, and particularly, those which currently reflect a hegemonic hierarchy. Consequently, it may be closer to the world of the man/woman in the street and also helpful on the computer. Above all it helps to alleviate the difficulties people have experienced with the Devanagari script.

I do hope that better informed people on Goanet will contribute to the discussion you have begun.
