ROMI KONKANI.
From my point of view, after speaking with Margareth Alva, I feel very
little she will do for the cause of Romi script Konkani in Goa. She is not
Rajiv Gandhi to influence Goan Congress politicians and Goan Congress
politicians will not care her much because she is not Rajiv Gandhi. If she
does something good by using her strong official status then well and good
otherwise Goans who voted Congress MLAs to Goa Legislative Assembly should
take the responsibility on their shoulders and meet every MLA in their
constituencies. In this way the voters should pressurize their MLSs to
support Romi Konkani issue and get it approved in the Goa Legislative
Assembly. I have no trust in Prataphsingh Rane the current Chief Minister
of Goa for supporting Konkani. He is against Romivadis and in this
situation how he will support Romi script? Thanks to Rajiv Gandhis fierce
initiative then to get Konkani bill passed and thanks to Raness greed for
the chief ministership then otherwise he would never support Konkani issue.
In order to punish Romivadis he supported the Konkani bill then in favour of
Nagrivadis. Rane is not against Romi Konkani but he is against Romi Konkani
followers. This is the trend of those who are strong MGPvadis, Rane is one
such. No genuine MGPvadi will support voluntarily Romi script, no genuine
MGPvadi will support Romivadis because MGP vadis were, are and will always
remain communalists like BJPvadis for this reason their fusion is going
well. See how Rane is supporting Parrikar internally and no Congresman is
raising his voice on this, neither from the elected ones nor from outsiders.
Dr. Wilfred dSouza is a great lover of Goa, he has great love for Konkani
and he is known to be a Romivadi. Inspite of this why he is not putting
pressure on the Government to support Romi issue? His lone voice is very
powerful in the current situation. When he wanted his colleague Mickey
Pacheco in the Cabinet he went all out even to the extent of dislodging the
Rane Ministry and finally he succeeded. Cant he do anything similar for the
greater cause of Goa? Why cant the Romi Konkani lover voters from Saligao
constituency pressurize Dr. Willie in this direction? Why cant the voters
from Benaulim do similarly to Mickey Pacheco, to Luizinho Faleiro in
Navelim, to Sardinha in Curtorim and to all others elsewhere in Goa?
The Romivadi voters in Goa must strongly warn their current sitting MLAs
that their time in the current Goa Legislative Assembly is very short; their
term is nearing to an end. The issue of Romi Konkani will be very fresh for
the next election, which may be earlier than scheduled. The Romivadis must
tell their representatives that nobody should take them for granted.
Romivadis once showed their power of fighting for Konkani and if it were not
for the Romivadis Konkani would never attain the official status in Goa and
Goa would never get statehood and since then Nagrivadis would never enjoy
the doles that they are enjoying in the name of Konkani and also at the
expense of Romi Konkani. If nobody is going to do anything in the current
Assembly tenure then Romivadis should make this as a singular issue in their
fight in the next election. Sardinha, Luizinho, Mickey, Willie, Agnelo,
Narvenkar and all other Congress MLAs should take note of this.
Meantime, it is very surprising to note the silence in Nagri camp over
their support for Romi script Konkani. Romivadis are not asking to dethrone
Nagri from its current pedestal status, Romivadis are not against Nagrivadis
but Romivadis are only asking to give what is due to them. It is very
hurting to know the Kelekars, Bhembres, Naiks, Borkars and others
maintaining their silence on this issue. By their silence they are proving
their real identity, which lies not in Konkani camp but in Marathi camp, and
because it is so they are using Marathik Konkani in the name of Devanagri.
I will rather rely on Judas knowing his kiss will betray me but never on
Nagrivadis who are showing their deslike for Romivadis by denying Romi
Konkani script its due share. The fight for Romi script Konkani should go
on till victory is ours and that victory is not very far, it may be today or
tomorrow or the day after tomorrow but surely it will come. Till such time
we must propagate that our enemies are our own brothers in Konkani who think
Romivadis are less patriotic than they themselves because Romivadis follow
Roman script Konkani. But at the time of language agitation when Romivadis
in their totality supported Konkani that time nobody said anything against
Romivadis. At the time of Konkani agitation when the Romivadis suffered
martyrdom in totality that time nobody spoke ill of Romivadis. No more
Romivadis will accept the persecution from Nagrivadis and Marathivadis, they
are birds of same feathers. And nobody will question our rights from
raising our voice in support of Romi Konkani. To fight for the cause of
Romi Konkani is not only the prerogative of Goa based Goans, it is also our
prerogative from outside Goa and outside India as we did during the language
agitation. Goans like us are not adopted Goans, we are not naturalized
Goans. We are genuine Goans for this reason we voice our support for good
cause of Goa. We are not come from across the border of Goa like Ranes,
Bandodkars and others and because they are not genuine Goans they show their
dislikes for the attributes of genuine Goans.
