There is this absolutely fascinating vision of what Goa could turn into by the year 2001, please see details at:
http://www.worldchanging.com/archives/002477.html It has gone on to win a prize at a global competition (as reported many months back in the international media). While reading this, two thoughts struck one's mind: (i) how is this going to be achieved? (ii) is there any acknowledgement of the current reality (whether under Congress or BJP or the rest of our un-enlightened politicians, with the eye-on-the-next-election vision) in Goa? Could someone, including Philip Thomas, take a look at the above URL. Curious to know if there is something interesting in this, it's a mixed-bag, or is simply a lot of well-packaged hype. To close, here's a response from one of the persons who came across this project: "A question about 'optimal' density -- 300 people per hectare is 25% more dense than Manhattan and more than twice as dense as central Tokyo. It just seems a little high. I'm wondering where that number comes from." -- ---------------------------------------------------------- Frederick 'FN' Noronha | [EMAIL PROTECTED] Independent Journalist | http://fn.swiki.net Goa, India | +91(832)2409490 Cell 9822122436 ----------------------------------------------------------
