I hope you will have noted that NOT everyone converted to Catholicism was
Hindu. And IF I wanted to change my name ..... or religion ...or way of life
.... I would do it irrespective of WHO was in power at the time.
Unlike those who became (say) Chougulos to make it 'convenient' for the
Portuguese, we did not change and become Khalass to make it 'convenient' for
the Hindu Mahasabha amongst whom we lived in Poona.
After all ...we are what we make ourselves ...not what we decide to coat
ourselves with....according to the times.
