I think that was about the most complete version (of the legend.)
Some asides:
* The Bollywood/Hindi hit film, Ek Duje Ke Liye, whose storyline
was similar to the legend, was shot extensively in Goa;
the final scene, suicide by the young main cast, was shot at
(where else?) Dona Paula.
* Some years ago, a Goa Govt brochure called it *Don Paul.*
Which made Goan columnist Mario Cabral e Sa wonder how
they could achieve such a neat sex change surgery.
* One of the best views of Dona Paula (other than from the
Bambolim plateau near the Goa University campus) was when
one approached it by the Mormugao Harbour-Dona Paula
passenger launch service operated by the local River Navigation
Dept. The service was discontinued.
