KA AWARDS FOR ROMAN SCRIPT TOO
PANAJI, Sept 29: Kala Academy has decided to consider Konkani literary works
in Roman script also for award of Sahitya Puraskar (Literary awards) and
therefore has invited books in Roman script from Konkani writers under the
scheme so as to reach Kala Academy's office latest by 13 October. Only those
literary works of Goan writers in Roman Konkani (first edition) published
during the period from 1st Jan to 31st December 2004 will be considered
under the scheme. Kala Academy awards Rs.10,000 each as prize in the Konkani
and Marathi section every year for the best literary works published in the
calendar year. (GT)

This must be music to the ears of Konkani lovers. Scripts should not divide
whom the language has joined together.
