As a non-Goan married to a Goan, I have to say that, IMHO, Goa is different from the rest of India in many ways. Sure, Gujurat is different from Srinigar and they're both different from Chennai, etc., but it is still true that Goa is different from the rest of India in more pronounced ways than the other places are different one from another. I don't see how one can posit that Goa is merely run-of-the-mill different, just like any other place in India is different from every other place. There's a reason this is GOAnet, not INDIAnet. There is something uniquely different about Goa.
