The police had registered a forgery case against the duo after independent legislator Philip Nery Rodrigues complained against them. The duo had allegedly forged the signature of Rodrigues on a BJP membership form. The same form worked as an evidence against Rodrigues in his disqualification case. Rodrigues was disqualified under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution by then speaker Vishwas Satarkar. The incidents had rocked the state as then chief minister Manohar Parrikar had managed to salvage himself from the crisis for a day. Later, the Parrikar government was dismissed by Governor S C Jamir when Rodrigues was forcibly pulled out of the Goa legislative assembly. Three police teams were sent today to search for the legislator and the party functionary. However, till late evening they could not be traced. Superintendent of police (North) D K Sawant confirmed that the police were searching for the duo to arrest them. Police teams searched houses of the duo besides various other locations to trace them. "We may arrest them tonight,'' stated police officials. This is the second jolt to the BJP in Goa. On Friday, two BJP legislators -- Rajendra Arlekar and Laxmikar Parsekar -- were chargesheeted in the district court for attacking Governor's motor convoy along with their supporters.
