<The South Goa MP, Mr Churchill Alemao today said that he was given assurance by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi that there would not be any change in the Goa's airport since Dabolim airdrome is economically viable.
Addressing the media persons here in the city, Mr Alemao disclosed that Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi specifically mentioned that "the Dabolim airport is economically viable for Goans and hence it cannot be changed." "However, I will take the final confirmation from the Prime Minister when I will visit Delhi," stated Mr Alemao.> All this is great PR stuff in Goa and might even help Churchill realistically assess his personal prospects for that elusive berth in the Manmohan Singh Ministry. But the only meaningful thing as far as Dabolim is concerned is if Churchill had any talk with the Defence Minister and the Civil Aviation Minister. Ultimately it is what THEY say that will click out there. And both have playing their Dabolim cards VERY close to their chests all this time. Churchill needs to stop beating about the bush and get down to real business about Dabolim.
