A case has been registered against Mr Arun Sinha by the Goa Police for engaging child labour and for the sexual assault of a minor. The charges against the accused are of a serious nature. CRG is concerned that because the accused in this case is an influential person, attempts may be made to tamper with the investigation of this case. CRG members were present when the child's statement was recorded by the police. After verifying certain facts in the case CRG is convinced that this is not a case of a "frame-up" as alleged by the accused. CRG has requested the State Commission for Children to monitor the investigation of this case. CRG has also urged the Child Welfare Committee to ensure that the child victim is not repatriated until her evidence is recorded. CRG is concerned that the process of justice is not delayed for any reason and that the law enforcement agency and judiciary do not fail the child.
