in rural areas of India in the states of Goa, Karnataka, Maharastra and
Tamilnadu. Solidarity programmes has also been the feature particularly with
the people displaced due to development projects like Dams and Mining. Annual
commemorations of Hiroshima day and May Day are other NEST activities. The
underlying objective behind all these activities is constant pursuit of
theoretical clarity and practical involvement. In a typical NEST programme
tremendous lungpower is invested on discussions after the paper is presented.
The theoretical focus is holistic and interdisciplinary. Nest as an
organization is an interface between the Academicians, Professionals,
Activists, Workers and Common People to enhance and consolidate the
understanding of the pressing problems.
