I reckon that such articles be published on daily new papers so that it reaches the common people all over Goa. I feel that every goan ought to know something about their mother tongue and its history.
Mr. Bhembre has pointed out the 3 things that we Goans have attained after the 1986 agitation: The Official Language Act was enacted making Konkani the official language establishing the identity of Goans as Konkani speaking community; The passing of the Official Language Act led to the conferring of statehood on Goa within four months; and Konkani was included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution in The 3 points mentioned above clearly tells us that Konkani is the mother tongue of the Goans and the official language of Goa, however, there is one equation that I have not found an answer to and if there is someone out there pls slove it for me. If Konkani is the official language of Goa etc .. then, why Marathi (which is the official language of Maharastra) can be used for all official purpose ? If Marathi can be used for all official purpose, then technically it becomes an official language of Goa. Isn't it ? In that case, what significance does Konkani have by including it in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution? Someone please explain this to me.
