In response to the news item, a couple of persons on this list have supported the decision by the Church. I hope that no Hindu religious leader will make a similar pronouncements.

However, there is one query that comes to my mind. Will the church consider the wedding to be a 'mixed marriage', if the non-Christian spouse converts to Chrstianity for the sake of having a church wedding? I am assuming that the Christian spouse or his/her family insists on a church wedding. I know the couple have an option to be married in front of an appropriate authority, and that the marriage will be legally recognised.
