following the suggestion of Governor S C Jamir, the Indian Navy has agreed to allow landing of chartered flights at Dhabolim airport in Goa on Fridays to give a further boost to tourism in the island State. With this, chartered flights from Zurich in Switzerland, Manchester and Gatwick in the UK could land in Goa without any hassle now that the Navy had allotted slots for the aircraft by restricting the flying hours of military jets on Fridays. The Dhabolim airport had been under the control of the Indian Navy since liberation of Goa and is contributing to growth of tourism in the State in a big way. Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane had urged the Navy to augment the facilities at the airport for round the clock operations to promote tourism and economy. The Governor had interacted with the Chief of Naval Staff on an appeal by the travel and tourism industry for according the landing facility on Fridays. UNI BM RSY RL AKK2214 -- Cheers, Gabe Menezes.
