It gives me great pleasure to announce that Goanet is starting a women's support group. As you can imagine it's going to be hard to establish a network to support women from scratch. But, we're dedicated to trying our best to succeed. We have a new volunteer who will oversee these projects. Please join me in welcoming Meera Noronha to the fold. Meera lives in Kanpur, Uttarpradesh. She works with special children in the Spastics Centre. She is also involved in different local social organizations.You can reach Meera at [EMAIL PROTECTED] To start, we thought that we'd build up a database of organizations which help abused women. The database will include organizations worldwide so that abused women anywhere can find resources for help closeby. We'd like to request that all those already involved in women's groups to please respond with details of your organisation. Please let us know where you are located and what you do to empower women. We'd also like to invite others to volunteer on this project, especially counsellors. In time, perhaps we could provide some counselling services, anonymous or otherwise, or merely be a point of contact to point women in right direction to get help. Furthermore, if the women on this forum are interested, we'll provide you with a women's only mailing list. This forum would encourage women to discuss issues and help support the women empowerment projects that we undertake. If you have any ideas on how we can go about setting up projects to help women and empower them, please send us your suggestions. Better still, we'd like to encourage you to volunteer to help us establish some worthwhile services. For those involved in any women's groups locally, please respond giving reference to your organization and work place. Please join us in supporting our women and our community.
