I am glad you have come to your senses. By now you must have realized that it is not possible to provide PROOF for every true fact, especially on the internet. And that a fact cannot be dubbed as untrue just because no PROOF is forthcoming. That exactly was the purpose of my asking PROOF for a whole lot of facts. I had no doubt that they could have been true. The questions I asked were all genuine although the PROOF part was superfluous. I hope you will answer those questions; dont bother about PROOF. Now you could go back to your earlier postings in which you asked me to provide PROOF for a whole lot of my facts. How many of them were such as to be PROVABLE? For instance, how can one PROVE that Sindhi language has not made much progress because its literature is published in two scripts? But you could have certainly countered my argument by citing at least a couple of languages WORLDWIDE whose literature has flourished because it is being published in multiple scripts. Even now, I INVITE YOU TO DO THIS. I shall be much enlightened by this information. Please help. Re: #2: I am painfully amused by the fact that we have two types of correspondents on the internet who are concerned about Romi Konkani. One is a band of dedicated workers who send their literary contributions in the form of articles, stories, poems, lyrics etc all in Romi Konkani, some daily, some weekly and some others off and on. I shall desist from citing their names for fear that some deserving ones might get unwittingly left out. But the readers are certainly familiar with them. They add to the wealth of Mother Konkanis literature; because, although divided by scripts, the language is one. ANY CONTRIBUTION IN ANY SCRIPT IS A CONTRIBUTION TO THE LANGUAGE. But, curiously, they do not come forward to add even one kaudi-bit to this discussion about the request. Why? Because they are busy with constructive and creative work and have no time to waste on such worthless banter and inanities. On the other hand, we have here a pack or a Bajrang Dal of cheerleaders of Romi script whose effusions add NOTHING to Konkani literature because their contributions are in the English language. To borrow the metaphorical language of one such prominent netizen, they are like cricketers advising footballers on the relative merits of the 4-2-4 v/s 4-4-2 formations. Their assertions are hollow and without substance because they cannot write one sentence straight in Romi Konkani. Had they attempted this, we would have been able to see samples of the messy state to which they have reduced their Romi Konkani. Now I ask you a question: Would you like to remain a member of the bajrang dal of cheerleaders posting arrant non-sense, or would you rather be a member of the band of dedicated workers and contribute some literary pieces? To begin with you could even participate in the current discussion IN ROMI KONKANI. Later you could move on to medical topics, if you so wish. The choice is yours. But please remember: it is said that actions are more eloquent than words. Having said this, I shall now proceed to humour you with my position on this hullabaloo. And in detail. In my next posting. Until then, my best wishes to you. S. M. Borges
